Energy League is an after school program that is run through the First Street Armoury. Energy League stands for: Equip, Nurture, Empower, Relate, Give, Youth. The Energy League first began in April of 2011 with Christen Allen leading the way. During its first year, Energy League attracted on average 15 voluntary students, ranging from grades kindergarten through 6th grade. Now, several years into the program's existence, with much growth due to Christen Allen's dedication and motivation, there are on average 27 students attending on a regular basis.
Energy League is a very structured homework/academic oriented after school program. Held at the Lincoln Homes in Monmouth, this program takes place every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:30pm to 5:00pm for the students who live in the Lincoln Homes and anywhere within a 4 block radius surrounding the Lincoln Homes.
A typical day at Energy League may look like:
- Snack after school
- Homework time
- Educational games/free time
- Reading time or fun educational mini lesson/group lesson
