Stafford Weeks: Local Hero

Stafford Weeks was born on September 27, 1920 in Hanover Pennsylvania. Weeks attended Junita College in Pennsylvania, studied at United Theological Seminary in Ohio and earned his Ph.D. from the Divinity School at the University of Chicago. Weeks arrived in Monmouth in 1959 from South Dakota, where he was teaching six years at Heron College. Weeks came to Monmouth to teach in the religion department and be a Chaplain. Weeks claimed he stayed in Monmouth because he was impressed with the faculty and the competence of the people at the school. Weeks taught from 1959 to 1986 and was both an educator and administrator when he served as Dean on an interim basis about five times.
