There is a approximately 26.7 million acres of tillable farm land in Illinois. The average acreage per Illinois farm is 348 acres. It is said that Illinois has some of the richest and most productive farmland in the world. Each individual farm is said to feed on average 156 people. In specific Warren County was established in 1831 and has approximately 274,000 acres of harvested farmland. The county has roughly 644 different farms. The average size of each farm is about 460 acres, which is more than 100 acres bigger than the state average. All these statistics have one common ground that started, created, and support these numbers; which is the steel plow. Every aspect of farming revolves around and started with the steel plow.
